Teaching Reading Comprehension Synchronically on Nearpod

What is Nearpod?

To teach students synchronically, we need to go through a few steps and make sure we prepare them in advance on Nearpod:

1.  Engage students  - a picture/a gif related to the topic that sparks interest + a jigsaw puzzle related to the topic. 

2. Teach vocabulary with visuals and definitions. 

3. Prepare virtual field trips related to the topic. 

4. Games to reinforce the vocabulary taught. 

5. Read the text- divide the text into small pieces. 

6. Fill in the gap comprehension questions. 

7. Polls and multiple choice questions. 

8. An interactive listening comprehension exercise related to the text. 

9. A fun "Time to climb" game about the text. 

10. Embed a Flipgrid- for applying HOTS concepts about the topic + sharing and collaborating with other students.
